INTERMEDIATE BIKE TRAILS IN NORTH GA

North GA has plenty of intermediate, blue square mountain biking trails. Let us show you around to a few of our favorite trails.

Powerhouse Trail - Olde Rope Mill Park

Driving distance to trailhead from our Canton rd. location: 10 miles

This is the signature trail at The Mill. A trail very similar to the Raceway but narrower, faster and with more climbing. You'll definitely get some airtime on Powerhouse with the jumps found throughout the loop. There is a return line at the exit giving you the opportunity to hit this trail as many times as you can handle.

Dwelling Trail - Blankets Creek Park

Driving distance to trailhead from our Canton rd. location: 13 miles

4.2 Miles (Intermediate) The Dwelling Loop is our most popular and most ridden trail. A true contour-trail, Dwelling brings in all the elements of singletrack in our area: Rocks, roots and some elevation changes. In general, this is a fast flowing XC trail that allows you to carry consistent momentum as you move from section to section. You’ll find a number of log crossings and tight tree gates add some interest to the loop. For riders who are newer to the sport and have progressed beyond the challenges of Mosquito Bite, Dwelling has a half loop option that allows riders to have a 2 mile option and yet still continue to develop their skills. Additionally, some of the more difficult areas have an intermediate options that spurs off of the main loop then quickly returns. Dwelling is an excellent place to develop your fitness and to begin to tackle more complex technical combinations like riding over root-ledges during a climb.

Van Michael Trail - Blankets Creek Park

Driving distance to trailhead from our Canton rd. location: 13 miles

This is a Free-Flite favorite! 3.4 Miles (Advanced) Van Michael Trail brings the amplitude. This machine-cut trail is relatively smooth but sweeps up and down several peaks on the west side of the park. Switchback and berm turns abound and a good speed can be maintained on VMT by the fit rider. Technical features are limited primarily to some rocky sections near the infamous “Kevorkian Pass.” There is also a really nice log ride carved out of a single fallen tree.

Driftwood Trail - Allatoona Creek Park

Driving distance to trailhead from our Canton rd. location: 16 miles

Driftwood in Allatoona Creek Park is a mix of fast, flowy sections, short steep climbs (you have to earn that flow) and some small technical rock and root sections. A small creek crossing near the boardwalk can be challenging for some riders. The trail provides great views of Allatoona Lake and Allatoona Creek as well as other beautiful scenery.

Mason's Bridge Trail - Allatoona Creek Park

Driving distance to trailhead from our Canton rd. location: 16 miles

Mason's Bridge Loop is part of Allatoona Creek Park. It's a singletrack trail with lots of dips, turns and root sections. The trail connects to the optional Mason's Bluff trail and provides access to two difficult alternate lines called 3rd Brigade and 2nd Infantry.

Pinhoti 2 - Ellijay, GA

Driving distance to trailhead from our Canton rd. location: 62 miles

This is a Free-Flite favorite! This ride starts out at Mulberry Gap. The shuttle service can be used to ascend the Wilderness Road to the Top of Pinhoti 2 or the access road can be pedaled. Pinhoti 2 will have riders navigating some of Georgia's best single track with a variety of descending and undulating trail. Pinhoti 2 will have riders exit onto a dirt road which will lead riders back to Mulberry Gap, completing the loop.
